BOXING STANCE & TECHNIQUE CHECKLIST
POSTURE & HEAD POSITION
- Chin tucked into chest
- Eyes looking through the eyebrows
- Look at your opponent’s chest, not their hands
- Head centered between your knees
- Back straight, not hunched
HAND & ARM POSITION
- Hands protecting your jaw without blocking your vision
- Elbows protecting your ribs
- Keep at least one hand at your face at all times
- Back straight, not hunched
LOWER BODY & BALANCE
- Knees slightly bent
- Heels off the ground
- Feet shoulder-width apart
- Back toe lined up with the lead heel
- Lead toe pointed at your opponent
- Rear toe at a 45-degree angle (orthodox stance)
- Keep at least one foot planted while pivoting
MOVEMENT & FOOTWORK
- Don’t cross your feet when circling out
- Move your head off the centerline with every punch
- Lower your level when throwing body shots
PUNCHING MECHANICS
- Thumb facing up on hooks
- Thumb facing sideways on straights & uppercuts
- Pivot your feet with every punch except the jab
BREATHING & EFFICIENCY
